WWE has officially announced that its premier event, Money in the Bank, will take place on June 7 at the newly built Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. This marks the first time the annual spectacle will be held in the Los Angeles area, as well as the debut of the high-profile wrestling event at the state-of-the-art arena, which boasts an 18,000-seat capacity and is the future home of the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers.
The 2024 edition of Money in the Bank carries even more emotional weight and significance than usual. It will feature what is expected to be the final Money in the Bank match appearance by John Cena, the current Undisputed WWE Champion, who is in the midst of his farewell tour. Cena, a former briefcase winner in 2012, famously challenged rival CM Punk following his victory that year but ultimately failed to capture the title. His participation this year serves as a symbolic bookend to a career filled with championship triumphs and main-event legacy.
Money in the Bank is widely regarded as one of WWE’s most pivotal events. The signature ladder match concept allows competitors to climb toward a suspended briefcase containing a contract for a guaranteed championship opportunity, redeemable at any time within a year. The stipulation has historically transformed mid-card stars into world champions, often in dramatic, unexpected moments that have become cornerstones of WWE storytelling.
This year’s event continues to push boundaries, as it will take place at the same venue that hosted the Netflix premiere of WWE’s Monday Night Raw earlier this year. That show broke company records, becoming the highest-grossing arena event in WWE history. Officials believe the upcoming Money in the Bank event will build on that momentum and set a new standard for WWE productions in the Los Angeles market.
Tickets for the June 7 event go on sale Friday at 8 a.m. Pacific Time on WWE’s official website. Fans can also purchase combo tickets that include access to Worlds Collide, another premium WWE event scheduled to take place at the nearby Kia Forum. Additional ticketing options are available through On Location, while Cash App users will benefit from a special presale window.
Originally introduced during WrestleMania 21 in 2005 at the then-Staples Center in downtown L.A., the Money in the Bank match format has become a mainstay in WWE programming. Its move to a stand-alone pay-per-view event further cemented its legacy, and this year’s edition, set against the backdrop of John Cena’s farewell, promises to be among the most emotionally charged and memorable editions yet.
For fans and wrestling historians alike, this event offers not only high-stakes competition and surprise outcomes but also the chance to witness a defining moment in WWE history as one of its most beloved figures prepares to step away from the spotlight.
